Trouble downloading Suunto Vyper (1) dives

Post by Cerianthus »

Up till recently (I'll say july) the downloader worked flawlessly. Now there is some setting that prevents me from using the downloader.

I can only choose the Com1 port, and when trying to use the downloader it gives the DC STATUS NO ACCESS error. I know this refers to the device not being read, but I have no idea why it suddenly stopped working.

I took a different laptop, Vyper and cable to a holiday, and I was able to download the first 2 days, but then could not repeat the same process. (there was a setting that revealed an extra Com port, but I could not repeat that process.

In device manager, I can only see the regular port. (com1), in the laptop they are called USB serial device.

Unless the cable itself is broken, I just cant figure it out. Would rather not spend on an extra cable if not needed.

Any Ideas ?

PS: I opened up the cable and there is a loose connection. Not sure I am able to fix that as I have .000001 soldering skills.

Hi Gerard

COM1 is usually not the correct port, those start with COM3. So I guess the cable is broken and the correct port is not shown.

Kind regards,

Hi,

got a new cable, and now i can choose between com4 and 5 (both showing in device manager as USB serial device.

I still get a No Acces error report. The suunto software is not installed, so i am curious what could be blocking it.

Is there a description somewhere to unblock a com port..

Try to restart the PC. Download and install Suunto Dive Manager to see if that works. It also contains drivers, if necessary. If Suunto DM works, close it and try again with Diving Log.

Sometimes Diving Log is blocked by security software, but I never heard that it affects COM port access (only Internet and iOS sync).
