No Access

Post by epsteel54 »

I only go diving once a year now when on holiday.

Trying to get either my Aladin Z Nitrox or memo mouse into DL6.0

I cannot get the memo mouse to sownload, even unticking New dives only. It tells me none found, even into a new logbook?

With the actual dive computer I get
00:00:000 INFO: 2024-03-10 11:06:04
00:00:001 INFO: Libdivecomputer version: 0.9.0-devel (70460b50aae622e93d61545c02b6ee4d4f358fa8)
00:00:002 INFO: Diving Log version: 6.0.30.0
00:00:003 INFO: Windows version: Windows 10 (22H2 | Build 19045), 6.3.19045
00:00:061 INFO: OnlyNewDives=True, FingerprintAvailable=False, LastDiveDate=
00:00:061 INFO: Start download (Serial): Uwatec Aladin Air Z Nitrox
00:00:473 INFO: Device Name: Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM7)
00:00:474 INFO: Open: name=COM7
00:00:474 ERROR: Access is denied (5) [in serial_win32.c:325 (dc_serial_open)]
00:00:477 ERROR: DC_STATUS_NOACCESS

I am using an original Uwatec dive computer lead with the red and black contacts, to a male to female 9 pin serial lead, then a male 9 pin serial to USB lead. Even tried skipping the M-F 9 pin lead, so just the Uwatec lead and the USB Serial converter

I have had this combination working a few years back, but why would I get No Access now?

No Access usually means another application is blocking the COM port. Maybe a security software is blocking or another dive app. Check also device manager to see if there is a yellow exclamation mark which indicates a driver problem.

No, com port is showing working properly.
Seems temperamental, as I have just tried with the memomouse after first trying on DataTalk and it connected and downloaded the dives.

I have pretty consistent connectivity issues as well. I can always get it to download eventually, but usually the first time I plug in, I set my Cressi Goa to PC mode, plug in the adapter, then turn on the Diving Log app. Com3 shows and the first time I hit download, it will start, but hang before the status bar begins to move.

When I cancel that operation affter leaving it sit for a minute or two to make sure it's frozen, then Com3 won't display. I have to close the program a few times and then I'll get it and it will show DC_NO_ACCESS. A couple of more cycles and then finally, I'll get it to download. It's a little maddening.

Hi, thank you for the reply.
That is pretty much my experience as well.
